Enharmonic keys are black keys with two different names, the other being black. The black key is halftone away from the white keys that are located on the same side. The letters are followed by a sharp sign at the bottom of each black key, but the letters are still followed by the white keys that are next to them. A black key with two letter names is referred to as a black key. Sharp or flat keys are what you see on the keyboard. The keys are arranged in musical order based on the letters in the musical alphabet. For example, the note A is the same note as the octave above it. The octave is the distance between two notes that have the same letter name. There are two octaves worth of keys on a piano, which means that there are a total of 8 notes in an octave. The letters on a piano keyboard are: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H. Also, it is said that as pianos became more widely used, a brighter keyboard was simply more preferable.A piano has 88 keys, each of which is assigned a letter. Why this happened is not well understood, but because visually, the color white stands out while the color black recedes into the background, the reason is said to be because making the half-tone keys that stick out black presents an image of stability to the eye. However, when pianos became the dominant keyboard instrument in the 19th century, somewhere along the line, the positional relationship between black and white switched. They were the opposite of the white/black arrangement that predominates today. This was true not only for pianos, but also for the keyboards of organs and cembalos of the time. But, on pianos dating from the 18th century when Mozart was alive, the colors of the keys was exactly reversed: the white keys were black and the black keys were white. On modern piano keyboards, the seven "natural" notes of each octave are the white keys and the five half-tones are black keys in between.
